A Poop Filled Day
As you know today Marlin turned 3 months old. So to celebrate his day he decided to eat poop TWICE!! Made me chase him around the yard, around the bushes as if we were playing tag. So i decided the only way I’ll get him to stop eating pooop is to actually PICK up the poop. And away i went, shovel in one hand trash bag in the other. The yard is officially poop free so we’ll see how how he does tomorrow.
When the lover got home we took the dog for a walk in the neighborhood park and as we’re making the lap around the baseball fields we see a fire truck pull up to the park and a firefighter walked off the truck and into the field with a flashlight. Another fire truck pulls up with more fire fighters and flashlights then all of a sudden a helicopter light shines directly onto the field were the firefighters are and they land in the middle of the baseball field. An ambulance truck drives onto the field transferring a body into the helicopter and then it takes off to Jackson Trauma center. Apparently a head on collision happened 2 blocks away from Matt’ house on US 1. It’s scary that we live so close to roads and they drive fast. I am afraid one day if we take Marlin for a walk and he some how gets out of his collar he’ll be killed immediately. I want to take him for more walks but just need to be cautious I guess when it comes to the busier streets.

GOOD cop BAD cop
When I got home today I was super excited to see my little pup, but the first thing I saw when I walked in….TURD! Turd on the floor in the front living room, turd by the entrance to the dining room and of course turd under the dining room table. Apparently when Matt left for work he left him with his brother. Which is fine except Marlin had been running around the house all day doing whatever he pleased (not my way of trying to train a dog) BUT what are you gonna do. I feel bad for leaving him in the crate when we leave for work or go out but then again it’s probably better that we do so he doesn’t poop and pee in the house and think its o.k! Oy Vey what am I gonna do with this little monster??
Morning Routines
Morning routines have become the best part in raising Marlin. He first wakes us up with a soft yelp…a yelp of PLEASE WAKE UP I HAVE TO PEEEEE!! Sometimes it takes a minute to register “oh crap my dog has to be let out” but then after 20 seconds or so i slowly get out of bed with my morning eyes and zombie walk, open the door to his crate and let him out. I usually pick him up to go outside because I am afraid he wont make it to the back door. So i scoop him in my arms and I walk to the back door where there’s a big yard for him to do his business. As soon as paws hit the grass its pee time. YESSSS! Not done yet. Then he will walk to the middle of the yard, nose so far into the ground you would think he was blind since he doesn’t see anything in his path but his main concern is smelling for a good spot, and finally he does. He circles around it for 5 seconds then BOOM we get a squat and a poop! As soon as he is done he looks at me…i say “GOOD BOY MARLIN” and we walk back into the house.
Inside our bedroom is where we keep his food, water and his bed since he is OUR dog. (Matt’s parents have 3 other dogs). When he comes in he will do 1 of 2 things. 1. He will walk right past his water and into the room, look at me to pick him up and then he passes out again. OR 2. he will drink water from his bowl, wait for me to get his food lay it down on the floor in our bedroom and will begin to munch. Lately however, hes been picking up 5-6 pieces of kibble, putting it in his mouth and then he will go to the green rug we have right infront of the door lay the kibble on the rug and begin eating them piece by piece. Strange i tell ya. After he’s done eating its chew time. And not on his toys, it’s anything else he can find on the floor…a flip flop, a bra, work pants (I guess we should get better at picking up our stuff off the floor huh?) just whatever he can find that isn’t one of his 10 toys we bought for him. He’ll chew on those things for 1 minute before I notice things are too quite and replace those items with his chew toys. This strategy works only sometimes. Need to start spraying something on the shoes before he gets worse!!!
After this bathroom and feeding ordeal it’s time to get ready for work and then Marlin lays in bed with his Papa. Don’t know what really goes on after 10 oclock but I sure do get excited when I walk through the front doors at 3 and he’s waiting at the edge of the bed for me. The joy of coming home to your cute yet crazy puppy.

Like Father Like Son
Marlin and his papa Wrigley
Marlin was born on October 29th 2010. He is the son of Addison and Wrigley Gonzalez. Wrigley is the son to Anais Gonzalez who is our friend and one day convinced her to breed her four legged son so we could have one. If you haven’t already noticed Wrigley is the name of the Chicago Cubs stadium, Addison is the street where Wrigley stadium is on and Marlin is the name of the Florida Marlins in Miami (We’re huge baseball fans). Marlin was our Christmas present to myself and my wonderful loving boyfriend Matt. We got Marlin about three days before Christmas and we couldn’t have asked for anything more. He is a handful and we are proud parents of this four legged pup we call our son.
Welcome to Marlin's World
This blog is created for all the schnauzer parents out there near and far. I wanted to post stories of Marlin's journey through the years and the lessons we learn raising a schnauzer pup. Hope you will enjoy our posts!
